Abstract:
The allowable speed of the bearing refers to the allowable speed value at which frictional heating will not cause burns and the bearing can rotate continuously. Therefore, the allowable speed of the bearing depends on various factors such as the type, size and accuracy of the bearing, the lubrication method, the quality and quantity of the lubricant, the material and structure of the cage, and the load conditions (including preload force).
Key words: Allowable speed; rotation speed; limit speed; rolling bearings; bearing product catalogs; preload force; lubrication method; lubricant.
The rotation speed of the bearing is mainly limited by the temperature rise caused by the friction and heat inside the bearing. When the rotation speed exceeds a certain limit, the bearing will be unable to continue running due to burns, etc.
The allowable speeds of various types of bearings using grease lubrication and oil lubrication (oil gas lubrication) can be viewed in different bearing product catalogs.
The numerical value of the allowable speed in the product catalog indicates the allowable speed of the standard designed bearing under general load conditions (Cr/Pr≥13, Fa/Fr≤0.2).
Cr: Basic rated dynamic load;
Pr: Equivalent dynamic load;
Fr: Radial load;
Fa: Axial load.
If rolling bearings are used in some combination of 2 rows, 3 rows or 4 rows, the allowable speed of the combined bearing is lower than that of the single row bearing.
In addition, when the heat generated inside the bearing can be effectively removed by using lubricant, the allowable rotation speed is higher than the rotation speed value in the dimension table of bearing catalog.
If the bearing speed exceeds 80% of the speed value in the catalog size table, the preload force, lubrication method, lubricant, etc. must be fully analyzed.
